Our early experience in the development and management of anti-counterfeit programs, particularly in difficult jurisdictions, led us to appreciate the essential role played by reliable information and investigation services. We established a specialist in-house IP investigation capability very early on and we now have a good network of experienced specialist IP information services who work together to track counterfeit product to source often across China. They are also regularly involved in domain name recovery and other forms of commercial IP investigation.
Recognition of the value, and the potential, of IP has increased dramatically over the last few years. There is a general perception that in an ｀Information Age' the value of intangible assets should exceed the value of tangible assets. The power and value of brands is widely recognized, with brand-rich companies often being sold for sums far exceeding their book value.
We have developed IPR asset management programs to help our clients manage their intellectual property as creatively and as efficiently as they manage their other assets. The underlying purpose of these programs is always the same: to maximize the value of the company's IP, to enable competitive advantage to be derived from it, and to minimize infringement risks.
